Sponsors & Grantors
CRAB is so grateful for the businesses, organizations, and community groups that choose to support CRAB programs with financial contributions.
CRAB has corporate sponsorship opportunities at many different levels. Sponsors can support CRAB programs or target their gifts to meet a specific need. Many sponsors qualify to be included in CRAB’s public communications – including press relations, social media campaigns, newsletters, email updates, and website posts.
Grant funding from Community Foundations, Sponsors and private grantors made up 25% of CRAB’s operating budget in 2021.
Grantors
CRAB has been fortunate to receive ongoing support from the Taishoff Family Foundation. The construction of the Lawrence B. Taishoff Building at the Adaptive Boating Center was made possible through the foundation’s generous contributions. In addition to their significant backing during CRAB’s Capital Campaign, TFF has consistently supported our adaptive sailing programs. In 2024, the Taishoff Family Foundation established a grant with the aim of ensuring continued monthly sailing opportunities for the CRAB community partner, ARC of Central Chesapeake, throughout the sailing season.
The Adaptive Boating Center has been fortunate to have the Phillips Charitable Foundation, Inc. as an essential partner since its inception. In 2022, PCF generously provided the funding to purchase all of the adaptive furniture and technology featured in the Lawrence B. Taishoff Building at ABC. Moreover, in 2024, PCF provided all the operational funding required for CRAB to run its Group Sails Program for the year.
Funding from the Bill Simpson Foundation supports CRAB programs at the Adaptive Boating Center for the 2024 season. Having been an avid boater himself, Bill Simpson understood the freedom our guests find on the water. The funding from this grant will ensure that our guests continue to have unrestricted access to Chesapeake Bay.
The Jack Kagan Foundation has been a long time supporter of CRAB programs. JKF was one of the first supporters of the Adaptive Boating Center Capital Campaign. CRAB proudly flys the JKF Logo on two of its Beneteau 22As
The Meridian Foundation provided the funding needed for CRAB to purchase the Gemini Freestyle 399 Power Catamaran, Dream Catcher. The power catamaran is CRAB’s first powerboat and provides up to five guests in wheelchairs the opportunity to enjoy the Bay without leaving their chairs behind.
The Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation provided funding for the Hoyer lifts now in use at the new Adaptive Boating Center. These lifts make it possible for guests who are unable to use transfer slides board CRAB’s fleet of Beneteau 22A sailboats, CRAB’s Martin 16 sip/puff sailboat as well as help boaters from the community who need assistance boarding private vessels for a day on the Bay.
The Middle Run Foundation provides funding in support of the Adaptive Boating Center.
The Anne Arundel County supports CRAB capacity building through Anne Arundel County Executive Community Grant Funds.
Move United has been a long time supporter of CRAB Military Programs. The funds provided by Move United make it possible for CRAB to create customized programming for recovering warriors and veterans with disabilities.
Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Outdoor Fund supports CRAB efforts to introduce new audiences to outdoor activities. Funds are used for outreach and program planning for new community partners and allows CRAB to offer its sailing and boating programs free of charge.
Annapolis Rotary has been a long time supporter of CRAB programs. With funds from the Annapolis Rotary Crab Feast Grant CRAB was able to purchase refillable water bottles for guests who arrive with no water bottles at the ABC. Staying hydrated is essential when spending a day on the Bay.
