Celebrating 30 Years

of Changing Lives One Sail at a Time

The 30th Anniversary of the founding of Chesapeake Region Accessible Boating (CRAB) is a major milestone in any organization's history and we are going to celebrate our rich history for all of 2021. CRAB was founded in April 1991 by Annapolis Sailor Don Backe and his friends. The marking of the 30th Anniversary will pay tribute to Don on March 25th with the first virtual "CRAB Chat." It will be followed  by other celebratory events throughout the year, including the Don Backe Memorial Regatta on June 12th at Annapolis Yacht Club. One of the major milestones this year will be the groundbreaking for the new Adaptive Boating Center on Back Creek in Annapolis. In addition, we will go into the vault and report on historical moments worth retelling. Friends of Don Backe are welcome to submit their own CRAB stories to share with others HERE. Even if you did not get the opportunity to meet Don and his larger than life persona, you can provide us with your personal stories that changed or had an impact on your life be it as a guest or volunteer. CRAB's 30th Anniversary is truly special and we look forward to promoting its significance and celebrating its importance with all of our friends and supporters!
