Family Sails

Designed to introduce guests with disabilities and their families to the therapeutic value, fun, teamwork, and freedom of sailing on Chesapeake Bay. The Family Sail program is scheduled one Sunday each month and select weekdays from April through October. Information on Family Sail Sundays is available on the CRAB calendar and reservations are REQUIRED. We will not be able to accommodate guests without a reservation.
Our volunteer Skippers and Crew look forward to teaching sailing to newcomers and returning guests.
Weekend sailing trips are approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, and weekday sails are 2 hours. However, they can be modified depending on the weather, the number of guests waiting, and personal circumstances.
To make reservations for a Family Sail Sunday or weekday, click on the link below. Please dress appropriately for the weather. In the Spring, the water is much cooler than land temperatures. Dressing in layers is always recommended any time of the year. Also, note that each guest is required to sign a yearly waiver form which may be downloaded below and signed in advance. Please bring this completed form with you.
Please note that parking is limited at the Adaptive Boating Center, and carpooling whenever possible is recommended.
Mask Policy Update:
6/11/2021 - CRAB announces the latest change in mask policy. No masks are required on land or on boats for volunteers and guests who are fully vaccinated and provide CRAB Staff with proof of vaccination. Any volunteer or guest who cannot prove they are vaccinated must wear a mask on land and on the boat while sailing.
CRAB will continue to monitor and take into consideration changes to CDC guidelines regarding the wearing of masks. In addition, CRAB strongly encourages all volunteers and guests to be vaccinated. CRAB reserves the right to prohibit any unvaccinated volunteer or guest from sailing in the future to ensure the highest level of safety.
