Featuring Janie Meneely and Rob van Sante with special guest Jeff Holland!

Grab your friends, grab a lawn chair, and enjoy the lively and folksy sounds of Janie Meneely and Rob van Sante on on Friday, May 16th from 6pm-8pm. The dynamic duo will sing songs about the Chesapeake Bay and the people it has impacted, including Chesapeake Region Accessible Boating (CRAB)’s founder Don Backe.

Growing up on Spa Creek, Janie lived and observed the rich history of Annapolis’s waterman. She recalls when Annapolis’ harbor was packed with fisherman, crabbers, and oysterman. She notes, “So many people come here now to revel in what the Bay has to offer, but they have little knowledge of what used to happen down on the docks. They never got to sit around the liar’s bench in a country store. They never got to watch a fleet of skipjacks dredge for oysters.” Janie has been writing songs about the Chesapeake Bay’s legendary waterman and their traditions since the 1980’s. In her mid-thirties, she formed a folk music band The Crab Alley. The band performed at several waterfront festivals and concerts.

Janie and Rob van Sante paired up in 2015 after Rob offered Janie support during her solo gigs in Washington, D.C. With Janie’s well-known reputation and Rob’s talent for harmonizing vocals and innovative guitar playing, they became a brilliant duo in the traditional folk singing world! Rob toured all over the world and played at a variety of music festivals and concerts throughout his music career. The team’s performances are described as being humorous and high-energy, so bring your smiles and dancing shoes and enjoy the spectacular views CRAB’s ABC has to offer as music plays over the water.

Presale tickets are $20 and $35 at the door. Please be sure to bring your ID if you plan on purchasing beer or wine at the event. All proceeds will go towards keeping CRAB’s sailing, fishing, radio-controlled, and wellness programs free of charge for guests with disabilities, recovering warriors, and children in underserved communities.
