After a nationwide search, the Chesapeake Region Accessible Boating (CRAB) Board of Directors voted unanimously to select Paul “Bo” Bollinger as CRAB’s new Executive Director. In announcing the selection, CRAB President Brian Jamieson commented, “We have very ambitious goals for CRAB and the Board wanted someone with extensive experience building small non-profit associations into robust operations, who had a passion for boating, and a commitment to the disabled community. We firmly believe that Bo Bollinger meets and will exceed our expectations.”

Bollinger has worked in senior positions, including President, of four associations in Washington, DC for the past 30 years.  He is the founder of the Recovering Warrior Sailing Regatta which is supported by CRAB and the National Sailing Hall of Fame.  Bo also created the Greater Washington Aviation Open (GWAO), a 501(c)3 that is the largest aviation charity in the region.  Bo has served on the Board of Directors of several non-profits including the GWAO, CRAB, the Corporate Angel Network, and the Bollinger Foundation.  He earned his USCG Masters License in Sail/Power in 2006 and has written articles for numerous boating publications.

Upon his selection, Bo said, “I know the competition was very strong for this position.  I am deeply honored that the CRAB Board of Directors felt that I was the best choice to lead the organization.  I sincerely look forward to working with CRAB’s many supporters and benefactors in the region to make CRAB the finest provider of sailing opportunities for the mentally and physically disabled and our recovering warriors.”

Jamieson noted, “CRAB is experiencing a remarkable period of growth and expansion as we become a recognized leader in adaptive sailing in the mid-Atlantic, and Bo is just the right person to lead us to the next milestone for the organization.”

CRAB is a 501(c)3 non-profit that strives to make the therapeutic benefits of sailing and the freedom it provides a reality for physically and/or developmentally-challenged individuals and their families regardless of their financial circumstances.
